Eco Cube: Smart Trash Bin Based on YOLO v5
1.Introduction
A multi-waste intelligent sorting bin was developed, utilizing an Orin Nano (integrated with YOLOv5) and an STM32F407 for control. The system achieves multi-waste separation through the use of through-beam sensors, ESR-22N modules, and a dual-stage conveyor belt. Individual waste classification is performed via YOLO image recognition and a three-stage servo-actuated flipping mechanism. Finally, high-capacity compression is achieved using electric linear actuators.
2.Innovation
By introducing interleaved conveyor belts and a three-stage servo flipping mechanism, the system achieves higher efficiency and simpler control than traditional two-axis grippers.
The project centers on practical engineering, with the computer vision and electronic control systems optimized for reliability and stability in real-world performance.
